Chiropractic is the 3rd largest health profession in the world?
Chiropractic care is a natural form of health care that involves treating patients without the use of drugs or medicine.
Chiropractic can be used to treat any joint in the body, not just the spine!
When the spine experiences change, it can have consequences on the surrounding muscles, joints, ligaments, discs, and nerves. We refer to this as dysfunction. This can lead to nerve irritation, affecting the body’s ability to function at full potential, and may or may not express itself as pain. This is where chiropractic care can help.
Where spinal dysfunction is detected Chiropractic care can restore lost function and assist the body to recover from a range of conditions, including:
Mid-Back Pain & Stiffness
Lower Back Pain & Stiffness
Headaches & Migraines
Arm, Shoulder, Elbow & Hand Problems
Hip, Knee, Ankle, & Foot Problems
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Numbness, Tingling, Weakness in Arms/Legs
Pregnancy Related Problems
Sprains & Strains
Chiropractic works by helping to restore the best possible function to the joints and muscles, which in turn enables the body to restore balance, naturally. The effect differs from patient to patient and results can range from minor improvements to extraordinary results.
Harbour Family Chiropractic is located at Unit 3/7-9 Fielden Way, Port Kennedy. We see patients from throughout the region, including Port Kennedy, Secret Harbour, Rockingham, Warnbro, Singleton, Waikiki, Baldivis, Peel Region, Golden Bay, Madora Bay, Meadow Springs, Mandurah, and Cooloongup.
An adjustment is a highly skilled and precise movement usually applied by hand to a joint of the body. The Adjustment loosens the joint to restore proper movement and optimise function. When a joint is adjusted, you may or may not hear a “popping” sound; this is not bone on bone but rather a tissue release. The same sound can actually be created in the release of chronic muscle adhesions.
We believe that everyone should have a chiropractic assessment and that can start from birth, especially after the possible physical trauma of labour, or at any stage of life.
Many problems can go on undetected for years until the body can no longer adapt and then pain presents. For most people, pain is the only time they are aware something is wrong. Unfortunately, this can keep them away from work, school, or even their day-to-day activities.
If you’ve come to the point where pain causes interruptions and restrictions in the activities of your daily life then it is recommended you see a chiropractor as soon as possible.
Chiropractic is widely recognised as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of headache, and neck and back pain. It has an excellent safety record. Although no health treatment is completely free of risk, Chiropractors are trained to pick up early signs of those who may be at risk of an adverse reaction. Even common over-the-counter medicines carry a risk.
What to expect during your chiropractic examination
When you visit Harbour Family Chiropractic, your chiropractor will discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. After your consultation, we perform a complete chiropractic examination to test your reflexes and flexibility and physical tests are also performed.
Depending on your condition, we may take x-rays to help develop the most effective treatment plan for you. This may also alert us to any serious spinal conditions.
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and x-rays, we will discuss treatment recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care from other providers, such as medical doctors and physiotherapists.
Our treatments can include manual adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue therapy as well as dry needling or remedial massage.
